Research Interests

My research focuses on the effects of agricultural landscape context on the dynamics of biodiversity and ecosystem service provision, particularly natural pest control and pollination. I seek to test hypotheses enabling a mechanistic understanding and better prediction of these processes in the context of global change. For this I use a combination of empirical studies and large-scale data synthesis at the global or continental level. In addition I am investigating the effectiveness and options for natural pest control in individual crops, with the aim of facilitating their ecological intensification. My main areas of interest include:

  • Agroecology
  • Landscape ecology
  • Trophic interactions
  • Ecosystem service science
  • Parasitoid taxonomy
  • Interdisciplinary research
